New slot machines are released all the time. Microgaming drops 2 or more new slots into play every month. PlayTech puts out a few here and there, while RealTime Gaming does its best to keep up with the Jones’. Everyone is constantly developing new games, but rarely do they bring anything unique to the table. The same cannot be said of the latest creation from RTG.
The newest RTG slot, Spirit of the Inca, takes jackpot slots to the next level by introducing the very first ‘Boiling Point’ jackpot meter. When the meter reaches its boiling point, it is guaranteed to payout. There are actually 5 jackpots that can be triggered, each with their own boiling point meter.
Each of the progressive jackpots in Spirit of the Inca, networked across all RTG casinos that carry it, will reach individual boiling points. The jackpots include (from largest to smallest) the Grand Jackpot, the Maxi Jackpot, the Major Jackpot, the Minor Jackpot and the Mini Jackpot.
Spirit of the Inca is a 5 reel, 25 pay-line video slot with wilds, scatters and a versatile free spins phase. The wild symbol is represented by the Incan Spirit icon, a scantily clad muscle bound warrior. When the Incan Spirit wild lands on any reel, it expands to cover the entire reel, often developing numerous winning combinations. The Priestess is the Scatter, but it is the Incan Spirit that wields the power to grant free spins.
If the Incan Spirit icon lands anywhere on reels 1 and 5, the Spirit of the Inca Feature is triggered. The reels are replaced with 15 stone glyphs. The player will be able to select 5 of the 15 symbols. The first three glyphs uncovered will reveal an amount of free spins to be awarded, up to 75 max. The fourth glyph will denote the multiplier at which winning free spins will be paid, up to 10x. The last glyph will determine whether or not any wilds will be locked onto the reels. The possibilities are No Bonus (no wilds), Wild Reel (one reel is completely wild) or Extra Wilds (one standard size wild per reel).
The new RTG slot, Spirit of the Inca, can be found at a growing number of online casinos who employ the RealTime Gaming platform, including heavy promoters of the game InterTops Casino and Slotastic. The team at Slotastic has been especially vocal about the new video slot and its inimitable ‘boiling point’ jackpots.
A statement from the Slotastic online casino read, “We like the new Boiling Point feature in this game… It’s pretty exciting if it’s about to blow just as you’re playing. I’m sure we’ll see this feature in many more new slots from RealTime Gaming.”
Having played the game in practice mode for a brief period of time, I found that the standard spins didn’t seem to offer very much in the way of payouts. It wasn’t until the fre game feature triggered that I made my play-money back, and then some. Out of maybe 50 standard spins, I hit the Spirit of the Inca Feature three times and finished about $112 up (betting $5/spin). For online slots enthusiasts, I believe the boiling point jackpot concept is going to be a huge draw, but the requirements of a minimum $5 bet per spin to win the jackpot will limit its overall popularity.
